Missing Workflow buttons on some issues but not others

As the title suggests i'm having some issues with workflow buttons.

I have just added around 500 Epics, Story and tasks into a project, while we are evaluating Jira, but i just notice that over half of the tasks dont have the workflow buttons to start, resolve, close an issue.

I am using the default workflow and haven't played around with the settings for this. But why are some showing up and some aren't?

Please try this:

Administration Panel -> System -> Integrity Check

There you can check all issues for workflow problems. They will be corrected automatically.
