Based on Jira's documentation (https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/configure-advanced-issue-workflows/), it is suggested not to edit or remove the default post function which triggers the Generic Event.
In our project, we want to submit a custom event when an issue is transitioned. So we had one transition submitting two events one Generic Event, another is a custom event that uses the Generic Event template. We have automations which being triggered twice because of this reason.
I have searched online and found out Atlassian team has suggested people to go directly modify the post function to not trigger Generic Event but Custom Event. (https://community.atlassian.com/t5/Jira-questions/Configuring-a-post-function-to-fire-the-custom-event/qaq-p/1139843)
I want to get input from Atlassian team whether the suggestion not to edit the post function is still applicable.
