Modify Jira Toolkit so "Days since last comment" includes work log?

Hi All -

I love the Jira Toolkit custom field - "Days since last comment", and the ability to include that in a column order dashboard widget. However, I'd like it to take into account whether there has been work logged against the issue. So...

1) Is it possible to have the comment in a worklog add a regular comment to the issue? I'd actually like this for multiple reasons, or 2)

2) Have the custom field take into account whether there was a work log comment entered.

I'd like to:

1) Have the date of last comment changed to the date of last comment or last work log entry, and

2) Not display in red on the issue navigator if there has been work logged against it

Those seem like interesting additions. The source code for this plugin is the best place to start.
