Hello,

I am trying to export some historic data out of Jira Server, however, I also require the attachments on the tickets.

Is there an easy way of exporting and storing this data?

Thanks

Mel

Hi Melissa,

Do we need to know where you are going to migrate the data to? From Jira Server to Jira Cloud? Or to a completely different system? Do you just want to back up your data?

Attachments are stored on the server, but Jira uses a specific algorithm for their storage - pairing with project/issues.

You can see How to archive attachments of archived projects

Hi,

We are moving to Jira Cloud. We have created a new project and are just looking to archive the data on Jira Server. We will need all ticket information and the relevant attachments stored together for audit purposes.

Thanks

Hi Melissa,

Thank you for new info.

If you are not going to migrate the old project to Jira Cloud, then you can back up the old data like this - Archiving a project in Jira Server

Of course, for the audit to reach the data, the server with the Jira instance must be running.
If you need to export data and their attachments to, for example, Excel, it is unfortunately not a simple solution (attachments are not exported well). Please check this thread.
