Goodmorning,
For moving/copying a project to new instance we are looking into some issues. Now we found 2 options:
Export data (backup) and copying data ( copy plan)
https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/export-issues/
https://support.atlassian.com/organization-administration/docs/what-product-data-is-copied/
But we are unable to find the bigger difference between both. So we can see what is the safer option to choose.
Is the export only data related? Or is it also the workflows what are going to be exported and imported. We assume it is only the data what will be exported.
How we look at it now would be the first step to do the copy plan, and when the instance will be permanent to import a export with the data. So everything is back at the "realtime".

Hi Anne,
Welcome to Community :)
Please find details :
Data copy :
This kind of copying your project and its structure from one instance to another.
This would be the entire project workflows screens field issue etc.
Export Issue:
- This is to take a backup of your entire instance and importing back to another instance or at time of data loss
- Export issues can be also used to export only issues based on JQL or filter
Thank You,
Prachi
