Moving Issue via Context Menu?

Raymond Liu February 1, 2023

How do you move issues using the context menu? I read that it was possible to move issues using the context menu, however, I don't see any options that would allow this.

After right clicking an issue on the kanban board and seeing the context menu appear, I see the options, (send to, Top of Column, Bottom of Column, Delete, Add Flag, etc), but nothing regarding moving the issue to another status.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

There is a strong element of "Jira speak" in this question.

  • Move  in Jira means changing the project an issue is in, or the issue type (or both).  You do this from the options menu on the issue view.
  • Transition means changing the status of the issue, either by hitting a drop-down, clicking a transition in a menu, or dragging cards across columns in a board.
  • Rank means moving issues up and down in backlog or board column.

So, I suspect that when you say "move" here, you are looking for a transition.  These don't appear in the context menu because you don't need them - just drag the card across the board!

Thanks, it turns out you first need to click bulk change on the context menu, and then then transition.
