Moving the statistical marker bar in between sub-tasks

I don't see this documented but is it possible to move the statistical marker bar in between two sub-tasks within one story?

I'm using it to gauge the amount of time remaining and I would like it to calculate in between subtasks.

The marker bar seems to jump automatically to end and beginning of a story, defeating my attempts.

What do you mean by marker bar? Sub tasks can be reordered and extra colmns can be added to show more information when they are listed within a story.
