Hello,
I had already created a full project in Jira (including tickets, workflows, boards, and configurations), but when I logged in recently, the entire project was gone.
It does not appear in the project list, and I see no trace of it in the audit logs or project history.
I am 100% sure the project existed — I had shared it with others and worked on it over several sessions.
There were no deletion permissions given to other users on the instance.
Can someone assist in recovering the project or understanding how it could disappear without a trace?
This is quite critical and affecting our team's work.
Thank you.
Perhaps you created the project when the site was in a "free" licensing plan. In that case, everybody is automatically project manager. And now, after you switched to a "Standard" plan or above,, perhaps you forgot to give yourself a project admin or user role in the project, or any other role for that matter, hence the project is now invisible to you. However, if any, that explanation would only work if you are neither a Jira Admin, nor a site or organisation admin, since projects cannot hide from these.
Hello @Avi Haham and welcome to the Atlassian Community!
If there is no project in the Trash, try to contact Atlasian Support, maybe they will be able to help you get your project back: https://support.atlassian.com/contact/
Hovewer, it's always a good practice to have a backup of your Jira data. If you have a backup, you can simply restore your data in the event of failure, like accidental deletion. When it comes to backup, you have a few options:
- use export data from Jira: https://support.atlassian.com/jira-cloud-administration/docs/export-issues/ In this case, you can create your Jira Cloud site with attachments. You can export your data with this functionality at any time, but if you need to include attachments, avatars, and logs, you can export your data every 48 hours.
- use dedicated third-party backup and Disaster Recovery software, like GitProtect: https://marketplace.atlassian.com/apps/1228719/gitprotect-io-for-jira-backup-restore-dr-data-management?hosting=cloud&tab=overview In this case, you can schedule automated backups for your Jira Cloud site: full data coverage (including Jira Assets and Jira Actions), unlimited retention, the possibility to add multiple storage destinations for backups, replication between storages, ransomware protection, and restore and Disaster Recovery technology. For example, with the solution, if you had a backup prior to the deletion, you can simply restore your backup to the same Jira account from any point in time and continue your work.
Hope you will get your project data back :)
Regards,
Daria
