Name Ported Incorrectly from Atlassian Account to Atlassian Community

Hello,

I recently noticed that my name was incorrectly ported from Atlassian Account to Atlassian Community. My original name is “Melisa K. Savich”, but on the Atlassian Community, it appears as “Melisa K_ Savich” with an underscore instead of a period.

I would like to have this corrected so that my name appears as “Melisa K. Savich” in the Atlassian Community.

Could you please assist in resolving this issue? Let me know if any additional information is needed.

Hi Mel,

Sorry for the inconvenience.  This is a known limitation with our community site.  The platform on which our community forums site runs upon, is unable to use some characters within the username itself, such as . [ ] ( ) and I expect some others as well.  Any user that attempts to use any illegal characters, will have those substituted with an underscore character.   Prior to that work-around, this problem would prevent users with one or more such characters in their name from being able to use Community at all. 

We have raised this issue with our vendor of this site. However in the current state, we do not have a clear time table of a fix for this limitation.  While I appreciate that this is not the ideal solution, the workaround of using the underscore is a better experience than preventing users from being able to use the site at all.

Hi @Melisa K_ Savich  You need to reach Atlassian Support to get details on what caused this and correction.

There is no option to select Atlassian Community, so I selected Jira (Cloud Free) but it says I need to "upgrade to Standard to get one-on-one customer support".
