Need Bar Chart that shows how a status has changed over time

Tim Tidmarsh November 11, 2020

We use Code Review as a Status column on our sprint board.  I would like to create a bar chart that shows how the number of tickets in this status has changed on a daily rate over a 20 day period.

I'd also like to display this data as a weekly amount over the course of 3 months.

The purpose is to graphically present the number of tickets in this status and how the count has changed over time.  A velocity report on status you could call it.

Hi @Tim Tidmarsh

You cannot do what you ask with out of the box Jira, as that would require rolling up the log history data for different time intervals, over time.  Here are some work-arounds/ideas:

  • You can get close for the daily counts by using the cumulative flow report, changing the time range, and disabling all status values except Code Review.
  • If you are willing to build this by hand, you could also create a JQL filter for the issues in Code Review, save the filter, and subscribe on the frequency desired.  Or, do the same thing with an automation rule to email you how many things are/were in Code Review every n-time units.
  • There are also marketplace add-ons which support better process measure reporting that you can investigate.

Best regards,

Bill
