New Jira ticket doesn't show on project board

I created a new ticket by clicking the plus button on the left (not in the column), and it's not showing on the board in any of the columns no matter which one we change it to (while editing the ticket).

If I bring up the ticket URL by its ID number, it shows... but we just can't get the thing to show on the board for easy search and moving around columns.

Hi @DHSV

A couple of things to check :

  • Go to Board settings, then Columns. Check that there are no statuses on the right (Unmapped) section. If there are, they need to be dragged to one of the columns.
  • When you click on the + to create an issue, check which project it is defaulting to - it's possible that it's for a different project.
  • Check the board filter to ensure that the issue you've created fits all the criteria to actually show.

Hope this helps

I discovered I went to Backlog for some reason... which seems to happen when I click the plus button on the left panel.

If I click plus under a column, it creates a ticket with just a title and type (like Bug), but then sends a notification to Slack (as we configured) of a new ticket, but with no description or other details.

The problem with this is adding details then also sends notifications to Slack containing the full details, which is not only redundant but gluts up the channel making it less readable.

Is there some way to have a ticket created by the plus button on the left not end up in Backlog? I'm not seeing an option for this... I suppose I need to select which "Status" it is before clicking Save?
