×Hi there,
I am the admin of my team's Confluence space, and our organization is running Confluence 7.8.3. Since the rest of my team is new to Confluence and is starting to use it as of next week, I was wondering if we can use the new navigation already?
I would want to prevent my team from getting used to the old navigation if that is possible.
Thanks!
Till
Hi @Till,
As far as I know, there is no new navigation in Confluence server. Unless I am really mistaken, navigation changes are a thing of the cloud.
Thanks @Walter Buggenhout
Are you sure about this? I have been reading that "released on Cloud first and make it to Server and Data Center once they've been refined."
In another project I am working with the cloud and the constant switch between UIs drives me crazy. Why would Atlassian want to have two different Confluence UIs out there?

Pretty sure @Till. The post you are referring too is quite old and the then fancy new Cloud navigation has since been replaced with - well - more or less the old Server navigation. Some font and color enhancements have come to the server platform too, but that has more to do with Atlassian rebranding some time back. So nothing much to worry about in terms of navigation on version 7.8.3.
You are right though that Cloud and On prem are quite different things.

Thanks @Walter Buggenhout I just read that Atlassian is ending sale and support of Confluence server. I guess that explains everything.

Yes, that is correct but there will be Confluence Data Center still after Confluence server won't be around anymore.
Or in other words: there is no shortcut like "end of server licenses" ^= "no new navigation in Confluence, ever".
It might come that way but it is no guarantee for the future.

Here is a link to the public roadmap of Data Center. There is nothing about new navigation in there, as far as I can see.
