New Top-Level Planning Project Not Working

Derek Fournier August 21, 2023

Has anyone tried the new Top-Level Planning Project?  I cannot get it to create a project, just gives me an error Project Not Created For some reason the magic didn't happen. Click Create to try again?  We have Premium access?  Is there something in settings that needs to be adjusted for this?

Based on this community article, where it is explained how the new Top-level planning template works, my conclusion is that you need the Initiative issue type configured before using the template.

Next Steps

Please add the "Initiative" issue type to your instance hierarchy and try to use the template again. Just for your reference, here is a knowledge base document with more details about the creation process:

Hello @Derek Fournier

Do you already have an issue hierarchy defined above the Epic level? I see some comments in the article about the Top-Level Planning functionality that indicate that might be a problem.

If the comments on the article don't lead you to a solution, I advise you to contact Atlassian support directly. And it would be lovely if you report back here whatever turns out to be the root cause of your issue.
