Who is this anonymous and how do I prevent this?  my jira-software-users group is empty (we use a controlled group) and I do not have an anonymous-users group?

I believe that is simply the system action as a result of an associated previous user action.

Thanks.   I thought that, but was not sure.  You'd think it would say, "Jira System" or something like that...

You'll find Jira uses "anonymous" to tell you "this person is not logged in, so I don't know who they are", as well as recording "anonymous" for some system actions, as Jack said.
