Newlines stripped from broadcast message

In JIRA 5.2 when I use 'Send E-mail' function on the Administration page to send a broadcast, it arrives with all the line breaks removed, which really screws up the readability. This ocurrs using both Text and HTML formats. Part of the reason may be that the JIRA server is Linux while the SMTP server is Windows and there is some issue with converting \'n to \cr\lf. However the problem does not ocurr with other JIRA notifications.

Any Ideas?

This has been sort of resolved. Likely a case of interction between a Linux JIRA and an Outlook mail server. The swork around is to use Text rather than HTML format
