Did you mean:

Next sprint started without ending last sprint

James N_ May 20, 2021

We have been running sprints for a while with no problem.

Start sprint-1, two weeks later close sprint-1 and start sprint-2.

Repeat the cycle.

We have been doing this for a while, so our latest sprint is sprint-16.

I wake up today, and sprint-17 has started, but sprint-16 has not ended.

I am not sure how that happened.

You can see here sprint-16 is not complete:

But sprint-17 is also running:

If I try to close sprint-16, I can't move unfinished stuff to sprint-17, as it is not an option:

So I guess my question(s) is/are:

How did the next sprint start without ending the last sprint?
What do I do now?

Hi @James N_

Parallel sprints can exist on tour

    https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirasoftwareserver/using-parallel-sprints-938845513.html

Now what you would have to do is close sprint 16 and keep sprint 17, surely someone started sprint 17 maybe by mistake

Cheers

YEs, it tunes out parallel sprints are enabled, and someone did star the next sprint.

you might also try accessing the Reports JIRA reports.jpg

and selecting your Sprint-16 from the list-of-values.Jira Sprint-16.jpg

From there you can see the team member who closed the sprint with date/time info.
A little coaching will keep your team in-sync and everyone learns something new.
