Not able to change the Issue Type in Bulk Update -> Edit Issue

Hi

I am preparing for ACP-120 and came across one scenario.

When I am trying to change the Issue Type of issues using Bulk Update -> Edit Issue operation then, I am not able to get any option in the Issue Type field.

But, when I am trying to change the Issue Type of issues using Bulk Update -> Move Issue operation then, I am able to view all the available options in the Issue Type field.

any thoughts on this issue?

Hi @011_avinash,

A lot of Jira configuration is based on issue types: the screens, the workflow, the field configuration. If you change an issue's type, you are at the same time (potentially) moving it to a different workflow, might loose custom field information as a consequence.

As that needs to happen in a controlled manner, the move option takes you through a number of checks and features that validate all these dependent changes and offer you steps to make the move in a consistent manner. Simply put: changing an issue type has huge complications that go way beyond editing it as a field.

As per my knowledge, Issue type can be changed  through move option only. You can't edit issue type. 

Each issue type can have different set of  fields,  If you edit issue type those fields not be updated. so It can be achieved through move only. while moving system will ask for the required fields of the destination issue type.
