prakashmurugesan March 18, 2018

in most of the projects in our jira when i try to open i am able to view the issues in it but when i try to open/access it by clicking on issue key,  it doesn't open up the issues, only in new tab we are able to open the issue.

Try turning on "Show detail view" in the Board view.

I am not sure how to replicate this problem.  I can't seem to do so in my system with the information I have right now.

It is possible that a plugin in Jira could possibly cause some strange behavior like this.  You might try to disable all the user plugins in Jira to see if you can recreate this problem.  Steps on how to do this are in Disabling and enabling add-ons.

If you cannot recreate this problem with these plugins disabled, then that indicates one of the plugins you have in Jira is likely involved in causing this problem.

Is this reproducible in other browsers?  Chrome, firefox, IE, etc?

What version of Jira is this?

Thanks @Andy Heinzer for your response . I noticed one weird issue today.

I was reporting i was not able to click on the issues and access it. but the same issues are not accessible in detailed view itself . But from list view its visible properly but again for opening those issues i need to open in new window.

Any suggestion why this is happening?

And to answer your query regarding other browsers yes this is coming up in all the browsers.

May be due to duplicate issue keys..

Reasons for duplication in issue keys

 1. Wrong import through CSV file.

2. Deleted the project and created the same again.

3. Deleted issue and created issue with same key via import.

Dear Nitesh,

I am sure this is not duplicate issue. the issue which i am discussing is linked issues.

Our workflow will be like :

Type1 - Type 2 - Type 3

Filling of mandatory custom field value in Type 1 creates Type 2 (New Type 2 issues will be linked to Type 1 issue)

Filling of mandatory custom field value in Type 2 creates Type 3(New Type 3 issues will be linked to Type 2 issue)

I am able to similar issues in jira only with few issues in jira am facing this .

To answer ur below points

1. Wrong import through CSV file.  - Not imported Via CSV

2. Deleted the project and created the same again. - No

3. Deleted issue and created issue with same key via import. - i dont think this is the cause either

It feels like this is something that would be caused by a misbehaving plugin in Jira.  Which is why I would still be interested to see what happens if you try to disable all the user plugins temporarily per Disabling and enabling add-ons.

If that does not help here, then the other method to try to troubleshoot this is to try to create another connector for Jira and then try to access the site on an internal address.  It's possible there is a proxy/firewall/load balancer that is not allowing all requests to make it back to the client in some regard.  The way to test this is explained in How to bypass a Proxy and SSL to test network connectivity.

If you can not reproduce this problem when connecting to Jira on this other connector, then it could be other elements in your network like a proxy causing this.

Another troubleshooting step to try is to Generating HAR files and analyzing web requests.   By looking closer at a HAR file generated when the pages have this problem might inform us more in regards to what kind of HTTP errors might be happening in the browser session at that time.

Hi Andrew,

I am from Prakash's team, tried disabling the add-ons , now we are not seeing this issue. Also this issue comes up with ScriptRunner add-on only (it works fine when 2 of our custom plugins are still enabled).

Is there any solution for this?

Sorry, but I have not encountered this particular problem before.  I would suggest opening a support case with Adaptavist, the vendor of the scriptrunner plugin.  Perhaps they can offer you additional troubleshooting steps to try to narrow down the problem, or perhaps they are already aware of this kind of problem.

Thanks Andrew,

I have already raised this with Adaptavist, and they are yet to comeback on this.

Hi, this same issue is happening to one member of the team.  It's not happening to anyone else.  I'm hesitant to disable the plug-ins because these apps are quite needed.  Also, I'm not sure why it's only happening to one person.  I browsed the list of open bugs in JIRA and I don't see anything relating to this.  Does anyone know why this is happening to only 1 person on the team?  I've check the permissions for the boards and issue, and they're all as expected.  Also, the issue is intermittent.  Thanks!
