Notifications icon not showing unread indicator

The Notifications Bell on the top right corner doesn't show the red indicator after clicking it once. The screenshot shows that I still have an unread notification.

This behavior happens even if I have 100+ unread messages. If I click to view them when the icon is present, the icon will then go away. I will then forget to check for other notifications because it appears that everything has been marked as read.

How do I get the badge icon to stay on the bell until all my notifications are read?

Unfortunately I don't think there is any way of the bell holding the unread notifications.  The same happens for me

I'm experiencing the same issue, James. I'm puzzled by the fact that even though I leave notifications as unread, the bell notification still grays out in Jira. I would really appreciate any tips on how to deal with this.

Is there a way this feature can be added (optionally)?  I am constantly missing important tickets because I eventually lose track of what tickets are being worked on.  The bell indicator is a great resource on letting me know there are issues I still have not addressed instead of having to tell myself to check notifications even when there is no bell indication to see if I had missed any communication.  Thank you.
