Notified in teams when I am tagged in a Jira Ticket.

Hi folks

Using Jira and integrating into MS Teams.

We have a jira feed on teams.  What I want to do is be notified in teams when I am tagged in a Jira ticket (ie a comment).  I know slack alerts you, is there something similar in teams?

Please advise how to do this.

Thanks

Jrh

Hi Jitesh,

I think the notifications setting @John Elder mentioned from the free app by Atlassian is pretty good to be honest.

Just wanted to bring something up that might be slightly different but still goes in the same direction.

My name is Benjamin from yasoon. We are a 3rd party app vendor and specialized on integrating Microsoft 365 to Jira and vice versa. Our flagship app Microsoft 365 for Jira covers a lot of different Use cases, e.g. sending automatic messages to specified users on a certain Jira trigger: Atlassian Marketplace. As far as I know there is no automation trigger in Jira for a mention but I'm sure we could find a way to help you :)

We want to bring the communication power from Teams to the structured workfows of Jira so you not only get notifications about something happening in Jira but you can also start a chat from there etc.

Depending on your exact Use case we can gladly check together what we can help you with :)

Feel free to reach out via support@yasoon.com or book a slot for a call: Meet Microsoft 365 for Jira.

Best regards,

Benjamin

The MS Teams integration/connection is one of the best available for use with Jira and our organization uses it daily, across over a thousand users.  What you are describing is absolutely possible.

When you are in the Jira feed in Teams, type "settings" (or just type "notifications" directly) in the 'chat' and it will bring up the configuration options... and you are going to choose "Notifications":

From there, you can verify your Notifications settings and ensure the "Mentions" box is checked:

If it is not checked, you can select "Change notifications" and it will allow you to then check the box and save your settings:

This should allow you to receive those mention notifications you are talking about right in your MS Teams Jira feed.  :)

HI @John Elder

Thanks for the reseponse.

I am using Webhooks within Jira and do not see the options you mention.  In this way the respective individuals will be tagged and appear in their notifications - rather than each person having to configure this.

Let me know if more detail is needed.

Thanks

Jitesh

I am not as familiar with Webhooks versus the free Atlassian/MS Teams integration app offered in the Marketplace.  However, it does appear the Webhook notifications are all issue-based and not user based, which is why you likely don't see "@" mentions listed.  I wish I could help more, and I do hope someone with Webhook experience will chime in with what might work.
