On Atlassian Connect, how to differentiate installation webhook from update webhook

We are currently having problems because all  'connect file update' webhooks that our application automatically receives from existing customers when updating the atlassian-connect.json are interpreted as installation webhooks. Is there any particular difference between these two requests so we can handle them differently?
