Hello,
We are currently using Ondemand but get the impression more features will be available with standalone Jira. We want to be able to add clients to our JIRA account and for them not to be able to see any of our other clients OR any logged time. Please can someone confirm that you are able to do this with standalone Jira?
Please could someone advise the benefits of the standalone version vs OnDemand?
Thanks in advance
Hi,
See the other answer for a good comparison between standalone and OnDemand. What I want to add is that your requirements to have clients not see each other and not see any logged time can be resolved pretty much out of the box on both standalone and OnDemand. See security levels and this post: https://answers.atlassian.com/questions/129982.

Geert
Hello.
Using JIRA standalone will give you more flexibility and customization options. You will be able to install more third party plugins (which I believe could provide the functionality you mention) or even modify the source code (if you have a commercial license) to adapt it to your needs. You will also have more control on when your instance will be upgraded, but you will need to upgrade it yourself.
The cons is that you will need the infrastructure (a server, domain name, network, backups,...) and you will have to administer it.
From a support perspective, in OnDemand support will be able to solve the problem for you most of the time. With your own server, support will assist you and give you instructions, but you will have to apply the solutions yourself and you are expected to have some technical knowledge.
There are also Atlassian Experts which may be able to help you administering and customizing (and some of them even hosting) your standalone instance.
