Only some epic labels are shown in JIRA board, proposed resolution useless

Daniel Sedlacek February 12, 2018

In a JIRA board, some Epic labels are shown inline in board items while others are not. Pretty much this. "Show epic labels" is enabled in the Board menu - as I said some epic labels are shown.

But the proposed resolution is useless - I work in a big company with many scrum teams, my sprint board is defined by the project, component or owner. I can not change the filter every time I have to work with a new Epic. I have tens of epics in my backlog and they change quite often.

Should I raise a bug?

Hi Daniel,

I guess the epics you are missing have been created in a different project than the board is configured to show right?

The board only shows issues (including epics) that match the filter configured for the board. If you'd like epics of a different project to be shown on your board as well you should add something similar to the following to your filter query:

OR (project = OTHERPROJECT AND type = Epic)

Hope this helps.

Best,

Maarten

Hi Maarten

it was not the project but the component - the epic in question was in a component not supported by the filter. Still, it is counterintuitive that the label is omitted.
