OracleJDK to AdoptopenJdk shift

HaRsHaS' V May 12, 2020

If we shifting Jira from Oracle java to AdoptOpenJDK, will there be performance issues?

Ive read that "There are no feature or performance difference between Oracle JDK/JRE and OpenJDK, and since OpenJDK is the reference implementation"

Is this true? and are there any further risks

Any other references would be helpful

Hi @HaRsHaS' V ,

I have done this change a couple times and have not noticed any difference in performance or feature. I was able to find an article comparing different JVM here : https://technology.amis.nl/2018/11/23/comparing-jvm-performance-zulu-openjdk-openjdk-oracle-jdk-graalvm-ce/

You will see that it states OpenJDK has good performance compared to Oracle.

Let me know if this helps,
