Hi All,

I want to ask, why i don't get email from jira for my domain?

I tried  to sent to yahoo domain from jira, and i get it, but when i sent to my own domain (ex: harta.com), i cannot get email from jira. although that mail is work well.

my question is how to i get outbound email log when jira@atlassian.net sent it to my domain. my purpose to prove it to my infra team that jira had already been sent the email

Thanks

Hi @andre

For any logs from jira cloud you need to ask atlassian support.

Hi Andre,

Hope you are doing well.

Please check the following:

  1. Email Filtering or Blocking: Your domain's email server might be filtering or blocking emails from Jira due to spam rules, security settings, or firewall configurations.
  2. Domain-Specific Email Rules: Your domain could have specific rules or filters set up that are causing emails from jira@atlassian.net to be quarantined, marked as spam, or outright rejected.
  3. Email Blacklisting: Jira's email server or IP address could be blacklisted on your domain's mail server.

To prove to your infra team that Jira has sent the email, you'll want to check the outbound email logs. Here’s how you can do that:

Steps to Retrieve Outbound Email Logs in Jira

Since you're using Jira Cloud (jira@atlassian.net suggests you're using Jira Cloud), you have limited access to the server's logs directly. However, Jira provides some options to check outbound email status:

1. Check Notification Helper in Jira

Jira Cloud has a Notification Helper tool that can help diagnose email delivery issues for specific issues and users. While it doesn't give direct access to email logs, it can confirm whether Jira attempted to send an email to a specific user.

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Jira Administration > System.
    2. Under Mail section, click on Notification Helper.
    3. Enter the issue key, the user's email, and the event type (e.g., Issue Updated).
    4. Click Submit.

The Notification Helper will show whether an email notification was supposed to be sent to the user and if there were any issues.

2. Check Email Logs in Jira Cloud

While direct access to email logs is not provided in Jira Cloud, you can use the Email Audit Log feature, which tracks the status of outbound emails.

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Jira Administration > System.
    2. In the left sidebar, click on Email Requests.
    3. Then, select Email Audit Log.

This log will show you emails that were sent from Jira and their status (e.g., Sent, Failed, Bounced). You can search for emails sent to your domain (harta.com) and see if Jira reported any issues.

3. Check with Atlassian Support

If you cannot find the email logs or need more detailed information on outbound email attempts, you can contact Atlassian Support. Since you are using Jira Cloud, you can raise a support ticket directly with Atlassian, and they can provide the necessary logs or confirm whether the emails were sent and any potential issues.

  • Steps:
    1. Go to Atlassian Support.
    2. Select your product (Jira Cloud).
    3. Describe your issue and request detailed email delivery logs.
    4. Atlassian Support will investigate and provide the necessary information.
