Hi all,
when I tried to bulk upload a CSV-file with a parent-child relationship via parent-id and issue-id mapping I couldnt select the "Parent-Id" Jira-field from the dropdown anymore.
Last week it was working perfectly fine.
Does anyone else have the same issue? And can it be fixed?
Hi @IT Department @Brian Franklin @Jenifer San Jose @kbotterill @Tobias Rook
I raised a support ticket for this and was advised the only way to complete the import was through the System > External Systems Import, click Switch to the Old Experience and click CSV import. When you map your fields here, Parent is in the pick list.
However, this is something that a Jira Admin needs to do, so I am finding that whenever our users need this, I now have to do it. Also, there is no validation prior to import, so you can't test your import prior to actually uploading, so there has been some trial and error on getting the import file and mapping correct. Oh, and when you do the import, make sure you download the log file, because once you move away from that screen, I haven't found a way to get back to the log file if something has gone wrong.
I have requested the Parent field be returned to the import available to users, I hope they do that at some point.
Regards,
Serena
Thank you for describing your issues. That is exactly what we've been experiencing as well. Has there been any follow-up on your support ticket?
In addition: when we did the upload through the project and imported data (AFTER validating it first - such a crucial step!), there was a hyperlink that allowed us to see all imported/created tickets. Now, when going through the External Systems Import, we not only do not have the opportunity to validate before importing, but we can also not see the created issues at a glance. It requires navigating to the project, and finding the most recently added issues there. Why would such great functionality no longer be available or be made available across screens?

I'm in the same boat as the other commenters.
Last week it was working fine, today I can't see 'Parent' in the dropdown list and I can't validate my import without it.
Has anyone had any luck fixing this?

Hi @Brian Franklin and @IT Department
Did you manage to get this working at all? The Parent option isn't even in our drop down list to use in the mapping anymore. This was previously Parent ID and neither is available now.
Thanks,
Serena

Hello,
The same happens to me.
I have mapped with "Parent" and it has worked for me.

Using "Parent" is not working for me. This is the same import file I have been using for over a year, so I would "expect" it to work. I guess they changed the Parent field to be something different?
The validation process has found 8 error/s
