Parent link LOCKED

Hey there, I want the "Parent link" custom field but it appears Blocked by Jira or another plugin.

My plugins are:

• Clockwork Automated Timesheets Free

• JIRA Toolkit Plugin

I'm using the Next Gen Canvan template

Any idea?

Hi @kodio , when you say it is “blocked” what do you mean? Can you use it in a JQL query?

Ok so it isn’t “blocked” it is “locked”. This is a Jira default field which cannot be modified. What exactly are you trying to do with the field? There are many locked fields.

Ouch, sorry for the typo. I have many issues and features that I need to group into another "parent" issue.

In Jira you can:

• use Epics to group issues (uses epic link)
• have sub-tasks under a task (uses parent link)
• link issue, e.g. relates to
• use labels, components, or custom field

the best solution depends on how you need to leverage the relationship of parents and children
