Permissions - How to obtain JIRA System Administrators rights

Buriak Evgeny April 18, 2012

Hi,

I am administrating newly bought Jira OnDemand application, but do not have enough permissions to, e.g., install a new plugin.

For doing that, I have to be JIRA System Administrator but I am not at the moment.

Can you please help me to find out how to become a system administrator?

Thank you in advance.

Hi Evgeny,

We do not provide customers with System Administrator access to OnDemand instances. This is explained more fully on our restricted functions page.

Thank you for a quick answer!

Does it mean that I am not able to install a single plugin to OnDemand instance?

That's right. We're not able to both keep all OnDemand's software up to date as well as keep everyone's instances compatible with their custom plugins.

Thanks.

But can you please recommend what is alternative way to buy/install/use a plugin in my case?

If you really need the ability to customise your instance beyond what OnDemand provides, you are better off either hosting the individual applications yourself or finding a hosting provider to do this for you.

We have a list of Atlassian Experts who provide managed hosting of our applications, which might be a useful place to start looking.
