Hi,
we have a lot of custom fields here and they are parts of the issue type definition.
Say, Story has some fields, Bug has other fields, and they may share some fields too.
In Jira the custom field gets assigned to a screen instead of the issue type.
I do not get the logic of it.
Also I do not see the way to list all the fields of the certain issue type.
There are myriads of screens and it is not clear what information can I get on Stories and what is available on Bugs.
What am I missing?
Thank you
Hi Inna, I feel your pain, indeed it can be quite confusing at times when working with configuring CMP projects. You aren't missing anything here unfortunately. Fields are associated to screens which in turn are associated to issue types within given projects. Ultimately I think it all makes sense when you consider that you can reuse issue types throughout CMT projects. And you don't always want the same fields appearing for the given issue type in every project. Associating fields to screens allows you to achieve that flexibility.
Thank you, @Jack Brickey .
Unfortunately this has nothing to do with the flexibility. There are industry standard ways to provide it and they are 'views'. You can perfectly define the view that shows a subset of the fields if you want to. But hot having an ability to define and then view the list of all the parameters an object has is a big problem.
I guess I'll have to resolve to the workaround of creating a proxy screen just to have a place to present all the fields of the issue type. If this is possible indeed, because nothing works in an intuitive way here.

Understand. I certainly hope you can find a suitable solution. If you do please share it here for future searchers.
