I have had an issue on our installation, that prevented emails being sent, for some days.
We have solved the issue, but it has resulted in a large pile of emails in the error queue (only one DataCenter server for Jira, so only one queue.)
The only option Atlassian offers is to clear the entire thing or resend everything.
That's a slight problem, because many of the emails have failed for other (and ignorable reasons than the recent problem), so I don't want it to try resending everything (+4200 emails) - I had hoped that we could somehow 'clean up the error queue' and remove items older than e.g. 5 days (It spans back to 30 days old)
But apparently you [Atlassian] say the queue cannot be edited, only flushed or resend. [Currently, because that's what you implemented?]
Would it be technically feasible for you to implement an option to "resend all error emails newer than X days" - or "Remove emails from errorqueue, if they are older than X days, and resend the rest" - it seems like something that would be quite easy to code, in my little world. .. . .
@Brian you should be able to flush the mail queue. https://confluence.atlassian.com/jirakb/health-check-mail-queue-1223822414.html#:~:text=Go%20to%20Administration%20%3E%20System%20%3E%20Mail,mail%20queue%20is%20piling%20up).
