Post function "Copy Value From Other Field"

Hi, All

Does the post function "Copy Value From Other Field" only apply to the same fields type?

In other words, is it possible to copy the value from Cascading Picker Field to Version Picker Field?

You do need to have fields that are of the same type for most "copy value" functions to work.

We don't know which one you might be talking about - there are a lot of Apps that have this function in them.  Most are very simple and can only copy between fields that hold the same type of data, but some will try some more intelligent conversions.

For the basic ones, a custom version field, affects and fix versions all hold "versions", select and radio-buttons both hold "options", short and long text fields hold "text" although you'll find long text is truncated or you get an error going long to short, multi-select lists and check-boxes hold arrays of options, and so-on.   But "cascading select" to even "select" won't happen, let alone anything that's not a version trying to be rammed into a version field.
