Our team is seeing an issue where we have created a custom request type, and have set the assignees/approvers for the ticket with preset values, however when the ticket gets created it is not assigning to the users we set. any help is appreciated.

please detail how you are setting these "presets".
within our project settings > request types > selected request type > request form > dragged 4 fields to be hidden > selected edit value > selected jira user

Can you manually assign these requests to the users you set? You may have this issue because users don't have the "Assignable user" permission in your project.

yes doing so manually once the ticket has been created works however, we need the assignees and approvers fields set on creation of the ticket based on our preset values. i will verify permissions now
