I have a very specific workflow and issue type that gets attached as sub-tasks to stories that are in the Backlog. This sub-task done is done outside of a sprint before the story ever gets put into an active sprint. We want to allow the person working on the sub-task to change the status of the sub-task to In Progress, Blocked, Done, etc. as they work on it. However, once the status of a sub-task changes, the parent is moved from the Backlog status to In Progress. We don't want that behavior to happen.
How can we update sub-task statuses without transitioning the parent story to In Progress?
Could you check the subtask workflow ? Perhaps the "Start progress" transition of the subtask has a postfunction that change the status of the parent issue...
Hello, sub-task statuses are not connected with the statuses of their parent by default. That is why I guess you have some kind of setup in your Jira instance. You have to find it and deactivate. It must be an add-on.
