Hi Community,

I'm still a noob in Jira, but learning slowly. I created this form to create tickets but i keep getting this error upon submitting it. Any ideas where to look?

I was able to resolve this issue, it was related to a field linked to another project that was required that i had linked to this form. After some digging, this is now working as intended.

Thank you all,

Thanks for posting this Christian!

This could be useful in future if another user has this question, and finds this answer!

Hey @Christian Delgado

Did you create the form from a template? I believe they are aware of some issues with the templates at this time.

No, this is a blank form that I created.

Hi @Christian Delgado

What did the error explanations page state?

Does it allow you to contact ThinkTilt Support? Just a question, as Forms are now an Atlassian product.

I haven't tried contacting ThinkTilt support yet, I figured I will try to find the answer myself first before escalating their way,

Hi @Christian Delgado

One thing worth checking is whether...

  • There is a field on the form which is optional and...
  • Field is empty when this error is received and...
  • Linked Jira field is mandatory (when not using a form)

Or...

  • There is a mandatory field on the Jira issue create screen and...
  • There is no corresponding form field linked to it

^ This can create an error, because the form is just an extension of the create screen - and still bound by any mandatory/required fields.

I checked the following:

  • There is a field on the form which is optional and...
    • There is only 1 mandatory field in the create screen, but that field is not part of the fields in the form, i also tried adding it to see if it will make a difference but i still get the same error.
  • Field is empty when this error is received and...
    • 80% of the form fields are required and optional fields are not empty upon submitting the form.
  • Linked Jira field is mandatory (when not using a form)
    • There is a mandatory field in the create screen, but it is not part of the form, like i said before i tried it with and without the mandatory field but no luck.

Or...

  • There is a mandatory field on the Jira issue create screen and...
    • Refer to the explanation above.
  • There is no corresponding form field linked to it
    • I don't understand this one, do you mean to check if every section of the form is linked to a field? If that is the case, then yes I linked everything to a field and created new ones when I had to.

Hi @Christian Delgado

The last bullet point is effectively what you have stated here...

There is a mandatory field in the create screen, but it is not part of the form, like i said before i tried it with and without the mandatory field but no luck.

^ If there's a mandatory field on the normal create screen, it needs to be on the form, and populated during creation.

Assuming you have all the appropriate Project Permissions to create an Issue, and you've tried all these permutations, if it's still not working - I'd contact support for more direct assistance :)

Yes I read that the mandatory field has to be on the form as well through a linked field, this was set up that way initially but it does not work. I will submit a ticket with their support team. Thank you much.
