Problem of Configuring JIRA to use Gmail as an SMTP mail server

I followed the instructions on

to setup my gmail account for jira mail service.

But when I test the mail, it said "can't connect to the server".

I'm behind a firewall and need to set the proxy to go round it. Can anyone help me with the setting?

If you are behind and HTTP/S proxy I guess you won't be able to connect. Jira connects via either IMAP or SMTP.
