Programatically link migrated Jira ID with migrated source code in GitHub

Dear All,

We are in a process to migrating defects and sources code (version control) from MKS (PTC Integrity) to Jira and GitHub.

We can easily migrate Issues into Jira by importing CSV files. Importing source code into GitHub can also be done.

Now, problem is how to integrate (link) each defect (jira id) with its respective source code in GitHub?

Ideally, during commit, we provide Jira ID and it automatically maps GitHub code with Jira. But, in case source code is migrated and Jira defects are also migrated, how should we link them together?

Appreciate your suggestion.
