JIRA Cloud implementation
All Parent issues have 3 sub tasks: "Code", "Code Review", and "Test".
I have a custom workflow that moves a Parent issue from "In Progress" to "Code Review" before the parent can transition to my test team. To transition from the "Code Review" status to "In QA", I want to require that the "Code Review" sub task be completed or "Done".
Can you suggest a solution for this situation?
Hello Joel,
unfortunately, it is not possible with JIRA workflow features to define which sub-tasks must be closed to allow the parent to be transitioned.
Although I'm not sure if there are any apps for JIRA Cloud that would give you this ability, the only way to achieve the functionality without any extra costs would be by adding the two sub-task issues (Code and Test) as linked issues and leave only the Code Review sub-task under the parent.
Performing the steps above, you could use the Sub-Task Blocking Condition to block your parent issues while the Code review sub-task is not done.
Let us know if this information helps.
Thank you for your response. Are you aware of a plugin / addon to JIRA cloud that could help with this. I can evaluate the cost based on the value received via a solution this this scenario.
Thank you!
