Project Filed in Detailed issue view

Hi!

I work with different projects, but I also created a so called  "overview" project, witch filters all the issues from the other ones. However I'd like to see witch project the issue belongs to when I open the detailed issue view? So my question is if there is a way to display it? I tried looking at custom fields but I didn't found anything. Please help me solve this problem.

Hi @lad6bp , does the issue key not provide a clue? If you open the issue in detailed view the breadcrumbs at the top illustrate the project. What view are you looking at? Can you share a screenshot?

I see this. The issue key does provide a clue but we have hundreds of issues and clicking on every "clue" separately just takes too much time. It would be better to see the project as soon as I open the issue view.

I don't understand. You do see the project via the key. But if that doesn't work consider creating a custom field and use Automation to extract the project name and place into the custom field. The rule would be triggered by issue created so be aware that you will chew thru your automation but it appears you are on Premium so maybe not a concern for you.

FYI - jira-smart-values-projects will provide the necessary info to retrieve the project.name

Hello @lad6bp 

By default when every issue gets created they generate an issue key that is random one. This issue key contains your project key combined with the numbers. When issue key is clicked, it will lead you to that specific project where it was created. 

You can have the project name showing if you indeed create a custom field, and assign it to all of the screens from your projects. Next, you would need to create an automation rule which will fill out the Project field (let's call it like that). 

Automation rule details:

• Trigger - Issue has been created
• Condition - Field condition for Project needs to be set to empty
• Action - Edit issue where you would select the Project field and add the smart value {{project.name}}

These automation rules need to be added for all of your project in order for this use case to work.
