Projects missing after migrating from Jira Software on prem (V7.0.11) to Cloud

John Rushe September 30, 2021

Completed migration of Jira On-Prem (Software V7.0.11) to Cloud using procedure detailed ( https://support.atlassian.com/migration/docs/use-jira-site-import-to-migrate-from-server-to-cloud/ ) .

Import seemed to complete successfully,  but a subset of project's issues/boards did not import.

Can you anyone advise how to troubleshoot/diagnose please.

Thank you,

John

Hi John,

Sorry to hear about this problem.  In the case of migrating from Server to Cloud, we would expect that Jira Server would be updated to the latest version before then taking a backup file for the purpose of migration.  I suspect that trying to migrate an older version of 7.0.11 directly to Cloud might be sufficient to cause an unexpected data set for migration.

That said, if you were using the Migration Assistant, your Jira Server version would need to be 7.6 or higher.

In this particular case, I would recommend that you create a support case for this over in https://support.atlassian.com/contact/ I recommend selecting the Migration option in the support request.  There are likely log files that exist for this migration, but they might not be accessible to you as a site-admin.  These could be only accessible by Atlassian support.

It might be that you will be required to upgrade Jira at least to 7.6 in order to migrate this data correctly, but without examining the errors on the backend, I can't say for sure here.  Please let me know if you have any problems with creating a support case here.

Andy
