Query on Custom field - ("was")

I want to query for tickets (bugs) that were opened or passed on a specific team (team is a custom filed) - meaning that the current team might not be this specific team any more, but through the bug life cycle, the specific team was selected 

similar to: resolution was ReOpened AND issuetype = Bug

but I want to use "team was XXX"...

Unfortunately, Jira does not support history search (WAS, CHANGED, etc) for custom fields. Today, This operator can be used with the Assignee, Fix Version, Priority, Reporter, Resolution, and Status fields, as mentioned in the documentation below:

Implement history search aka WAS and CHANGED operators for custom fields 

Ability to use operator WAS / WAS IN / WAS NOT / WAS NOT IN in custom fields

The feature suggestions you noted are both 7+ years old.  What is the likelihood of such things moving forward due to votes from the community?
