Question permission

Hello,

I would like to understand the difference between any user with Jira Software application access and any logged in user.

Also what permission/s do we need  in a simplified workflow(no conditions) to drag and drop issues in Closed column? Do we need only BrowseProject? Or transition issues? Or closed issues?

Thank you!

Hi @Cristina Andrei and welcome to the Community!

As to your first question, to be able to log into Jira Software, a user does need a license. So basically that is very much the same thing.

As to the second one, simplified workflow is a workflow like any other with respect to permissions. To be able to drop issues into a closed column on your board, it still depends what status of the workflow is mapped to that column. If your status is a green status (status category = done) - which would be the most common scenario - and the resolution field is being set when you move into that status, you would need:

  • browse project
  • edit issues
  • transition issues
  • resolve issues
  • close issues

For a full and detailed overview of all project permissions and what they do, also see this support article.

Hope this helps!
