Rally to Jira Migration

Ankith November 1, 2018

We are planning to migrate from rally to Jira and also want to integrate it as we are not completely dissolving rally as we still have teams working on it. The integration should updates all the areas in Jira as they get updated in rally by current teams. any process, plugins, recommendations will be helpful, Thank you.

Hi Ankit,

OpsHub Integration Manager (OIM) supports the migration and bi-directional sync of work-items between 50+ ALM and DevOps tools including Rally and Jira. OIM allows zero-downtime migration of all the artifacts including comments, attachments, relationships, and history.

Similarly, OIM supports bi-directional sync between Jira and Rally with comments, attachments, and relationships. A datasheet outlining RALLY and JIRA  integration can be found on https://www.opshub.com/rally-software-integration/rally-software-integration-jira-integration/

Hi Ankith!

Migration

While we do not have any particular recommendations besides our public facing documentation, there are definitely a number of third-party plug-ins such as "Rally to Jira Enterprise Migration Tool" that can help expedite the migration.

The following document is extremely important to understand and run your data through in order to prepare it to be migrated: Importing data from CSV
It includes information in regard to many things that can become an issue during an import:

  • Prepare the CSV file
  • CSV file requirements
  • CSV file structure
  • Import the CSV file
  • Upload the CSV
  • Set up project mappings
  • Set up field mappings
  • Set up field value mappings
  • Tips for importing CSV data into Jira fields

Please let me know if there is any further information I may provide. Thank you.

!!!! The Rally importer is no longer supported by Atlassian, but you can still import data with a CSV file. !!!!!

Integration

Regarding the integration, we just found this connector a from CA Agile Central on how to integrate Jira + and Rally.

Hope this helps.

Best Regards.

Hi @Henrique Bittencourt

How are you?

I know this post is here for many years. Just wondering if you can update the link for 'this connector' since it's not working now.

I will have to migrate Rally data to Jira soon. This is a one time action. After the migration, all the work will be moved to Jira. Do you think CSV import is the best way for my scenario?

Thanks.

Hi @Yi Meng

We are planning to migrate Rally data to Jira soon as a one time activity.

Appreciate if you can share some inputs if it worked for you.

Best Regards.

@DIWAKAR INDLA BALASUBRAMANIAM

Primarily I was using CSV export and import in the migration.

Some teams choose to start fresh.

Others are fine with CSV import even there are some limits.
