Random Epic Name Change

Hello, a few days ago we presented an anomaly in JIRA, in 1 project, the names of the epics that were created, just randomly changed, no one in the project made the change, so I was wondering if it was atlassian that made the change by any reason

Have you ever experimented something like this?

What is your evidence that the Epic Name changed? Is it recorded in the History of the issues? Are you seeing something different on a screen where you expect to see the Epic Name value, and if that is the case, on which screen?

Atlassian is working on changes related to Epics to deprecate the use of Epic Name and Epic Link. You can see more information about those changes here:

No, the change its not recorded in the history, and the screen is the same, its just that the names of the epics just randomly changed

Can you be more specific about what you mean by "random" change? The Atlassian change would've have changed the Epic Name display to now display the Summary field of the Epic. That is not a random change. Is that the change you are seeing?

If not can you provide a screen image example of where you are seeing the new value and tell us what the old value was for that example?

I don't have before and after screenshots, but we've seen the same thing happen in our Jira instance:  a bunch of Epic names have been changed and no one on the team seems to have done this.  None of the impacted Epics record a name change in the history section on the Epic issue, so not sure if Jira logs the action for Epic name changes?

Though you don't have screen images can you provide an example from memory of what one of the changed values was before and after the change?

On what screen are you seeing the change? Have you confirmed that it is not the change I mentioned that Atlassian is rolling out, to stop using Epic Name values and replace them with Epic Summary values?

@Trudy Claspill thanks for your response!  It did turn out to be the change you mentioned regarding Epic Name values being replaced with Epic Summary values after all.
