API User Search query does not work?

It looks like the filtering mechanism doesnt work. I still get results: /rest/api/3/users/search?query=whatevershouldnotmatch 

Anyone else?

There have been some major changes to user privacy in accordance with GDPR there were some major overhauls to the available data in the user-related endpoints.

I believe the only remaining comparable endpoint query option is "/rest/api/3/user/search?query=%" to fetch all users, as detailed in the comments of the related endpoint update ticket that linked below:
