Add JIRA to Confluence Server

Seems like it is almost impossible to ask this question to a technician.

I have Confluence server and see that Jira + Confluence is offered as a 'combo'.

Will Jira need it's own server, or is there an option to 'upgrade' Confluence to also have Jira Core?

Jira and Confluence are different products. You can install both Jira and Confluence on the same server or VM but they run in different tomcat environments and listen on different ports.
