I want to understand if the following is possible.
JIRA software - on-prem, 7.*
I want to be able to auto assign a specific label when new tickets are created. I know that I could set up a post function to do this bit.
Question is - Can the above post-function be controlled such that tickets created by a subset of users or a specific user group alone is tagged with a label ?
For e.g. If I have Tom, Dick & Harry, where Tom & Dick are part of Team A, Harry is part of Team B. When Tom & Dick create a ticket, I want it auto labelled with "TeamA".
Thanks in advance.
Thank you both. Should have clarified before. I am looking for an option without involving plug-ins/scriptrunner as the jira instance is owned by the Customer and such changes are hard to materialise.
Any possibility to achieve this purely by using transition conditions, triggers, and post functions ? i.e. if ticket is created by a user in Group X, then add this label ?
I'm afraid not, you would need a plugin for this.

I would use "Automation for Jira" to do this. You can find it on the marketplace. I prefer that tool over scriptrunner since it is a lot easier to work with.
Cheers

I believe you would need to script this (using ScriptRunner) as a post-function.
