I am trying to add a new issue type (Feature) between Epic and Story. As per this post "https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-18875" it seems to be possible.
Now when I am trying to:
1. Rename the Epic level to "Feature" and associate Feature issue type to it and I am able to change the name and associate "Feature" issue type to the hierarchy. However I am not able to disassociate existing Epic from it. -> so the Feature Hierarchy has two issue type "Epic" and "Feature" associated with it.
2. I tried to delete the existing issue type "Epic", but in the Epic description it is mentioned that -> "A big user story that needs to be broken down. Created by Jira Software - do not edit or delete"
Please help me achieve it.
Hi @meerm ,
You can create your own hierarchy using issue links. However you would need a custom solution to view the same in a tree view. If you are fine to explore a mktplace app to view Issues based on Issue Links combined with standard jira hierarchy for multiple projects , I can suggest our app
The app also allows you to view your project issue hierarchy in a tree view. The hierarchy is created based on your issue links. You can view %complete progress at each parent level. It rolls up the time tracking fields, story point or numeric fields at each parent level. The app can be added to a dashboard as well
Disclaimer : I am one of the app team member
Currently add-on is not an option I am looking for. If someone can tell me is it safe to delete and Epic work item type, since it is mentioned in the epic description "A big user story that needs to be broken down. Created by Jira Software - do not edit or delete".
What are the repercussions if I delete the epic type. Will it impact any inbuilt report or any other feature.

Hello @meerm ,
Actually, the original request is https://jira.atlassian.com/browse/JSWCLOUD-15781 which is timed-out; current you can add multiple issues in the EPIC level, add more level above the EPIC, but cannot have other in between EPIC and STORY>
