Adding Status\transition to Simplified workflow?

My team has global admin access. We are trying to set up a new project on Jira and for that we are creating a new workflow based on the project requirements. During this process, the team is encountering the issue as shown in the attachment.

The issue we are facing is not being able to add new transition between multiple statuses during the workflow creation.

ERROR - You cannot perform this operation on a draft workflow.

Hi,

This is happening because you are doing status change on Active workflow. Create copy of the same workflow, do the changes and then associate new workflow within your workflow scheme.
