I am trying to add a fellow co-worker and the system will not allow me to.

Please advise on how to get him added to this ticket.

Hi @Liz Humphrey -- Welcome to the Atlassian Community!

First, as this is a public community forum you may want to remove your company's Jira URL and your co-worker's email address from the post.

Next, some questions to help diagnose this:

Can you add other users as watchers to the issue?

Does your co-worker have a Jira user account?

If both of those are "yes", what do you observe when you try to add this specific user?

Kind regards,
Bill

As Bill stated I suggest to clear the links and email above.

Next, if you have system admin access to this instance you have a useful tool called Permission Helper in the issue. But if you are not a system admin the next step is to see if you can add other users.

‘if this user is not part of the project they can’t be added as a watcher. Only users defined in a project can be added as a watcher.
