Adding custom triggers to Bitbucket pipelines

Hello,

We currently use the workflow triggers to transition the status of a story/task/test case associated with the PR. Is there a way I can add a custom trigger to alter the value of a custom field on PR merges? we have a test automation status custom field that has values (to be automated, automation in progress, automation complete). Once the PR has merged, we want the field to transition from automation in progress to automation complete. Is this achievable?

I see that your question is flagged as Jira Cloud. Can you confirm if you are using a Classic or Next-gen Project?

I believe you can achieve this goal by using Jira Automation. These would be the exact steps:

1. For Classic projects, navigate to project > Project Settings > Automation
   For Next-gen projects, navigate to project > Project Settings > Apps > Project Automation
2. Create the following automation rule, selecting the trigger to be "Pull Request merged" and the action to be "Edit issue Field":
